Reverse Times is still in development series of ceramic vases that intertwine exploration of the connections between my family history, traditional craftsmanship, and sustainable practices. Inspired by my grandfather, a skilled basket weaver, I've incorporated willow branches from the very trees he worked with into each piece. The vases are crafted from clay that I collected near my family's farm, tapping into the rich tradition of Slovenian ceramics. In a commitment to sustainability and to create strong and texturized pieces, I've added grog made from my failed ceramic pieces and reclaimed construction materials like roof tiles and bricks. I also chose pit firing, an ancient technique, using waste sawdust and wood chips from a local carpenter to reduce energy use and minimize carbon footprint.
